About JCHA

Jefferson City Housing Authority was founded by J. G. Newman in 1953. He continued on as the Executive Director until he retired in 1990. His position was filled by Mary Helen White until her retirement in 2015. The current Executive Director is Keith Godwin.

JCHA administers 199 income-based Public Housing units located in Jefferson City, Tennessee. We began with 32 units, added 30 more units in 1961, another 62 units in 1970, another 47 units in 1976, and finally 28 units in 1982.

JCHA is proud of their properties and keeps them maintained in a decent, safe, and sanitary condition. JCHA complies with requirements of applicable building codes, housing codes, and The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations. JCHA is an equal housing opportunity provider.





About Our Units

We have 125 family units which range from 1 to 4 bedrooms in size. 58 units are designated for elderly and disabled residents, 13 units are wheelchair accessible, and 3 units aid the hearing and/or visually impaired.

Two of our complexes have community rooms which are available for use by all residents for meetings and gatherings (such as birthday or holiday parties, etc.)

There is a laundry facility available for units that are not equipped with washer/dryer hookups.
